Khan issued the call during a gathering in western Herat province late Tuesday, where Balkh governor Ata Mohammad Noor said he could be a candidate for the upcoming presidential elections.
“I think that Dr. Abdullah has tried his luck in the past two elections. He shouldn’t try his failed luck once again.”
Khan called on Abdullah to give a chance to other key figures of Jamiat-e-Islami, so that “we could have another candidate and not waste people’s votes.”
In 2014 election, Khan was Abdurrab-ur-Rassul Sayyaf’s nominee for first vice-president. After the ticket’s failure, Khan announced support for Abdullah who run with Ashraf Ghani in the second round.
During his speech, Noor also lambaste unity government leaders for insecurity and corruption.
“They (militants) are about to take off their (unity government leaders) trousers, but still they claim that they are winners of the war,” he said.
