Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kandahar: Officials in the Directorate of Mines and Petroleum of Kandahar Province say today Saturday that they have entrusted the mining of lead and zinc mine "Bibi Gohar" in Khakriz district to the private company "Bilal Basir".
Maulavi Abdul Hanan, the head of mines and petroleum of this province, told Bakhtar that this mine was entrusted to the aforementioned company for the purpose of extraction by the order of the leader of the Islamic Emirate and the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum.
Maulavi Abdulhanan added; In contrast to the extraction of lead and zinc mines in Khakriz district, this private company has also committed to build a 170 km long road between Dehravud Uruzgan district and Khakriz district of Kandahar, which will cost about fifty million US dollars.
This mine is located in Bibi Gohar mountain of Kandahar in the Kandahar embankment area (at a distance of 82 km north of Kandahar) and it is of hydrothermal type and the main vein has lead and zinc minerals with a length of 50 meters and a width of 10 meters.
At the same time, the head of mines and petroleum of Herat province also announced on Thursday 10 Hamal about the start of coal mining in Uba district of this province. The contract cost of this mine is 258 million Afghanis, and it has provided jobs for 400 people.
