50 persons receive presidential information packages: IEC

According to the schedule of presidential elections, the candidates registration process begun on December 22 and would continue until January 2, 2019.
Kubra Rezayee, deputy IEC spokesperson, told Pajhwok Afghan News that 50 persons have so far received information packages for participating in the presidential elections but no one has so far registered as candidate.
Obtaining the information packages is also possible through internet and some of people who plan to nominate for presidential elections have received these packages online, she added.
Noorul Haq Ulumi, Anwarul Haq Ahadi, Hakim Torsan, Hedayatullah Hafiz, ayamuddin Watandost, Noor Rahman Liwal, Zalmai Rassoul, Rahmatullah Nabil, Shaida Mohammad Abdali, Faramarz Tamana, Mohamad Hanif Atmar, Ahmad Wali Massoud, Hekmat Khalil Karzai and some others have received the information packages.
According to the election law, a presidential election candidate should be Afghan, Muslim, have completed the age of 40, have the support of 100,000 people, not guilty of crimes against humanity, not deprived of civil rights and pay a million Afghanis to the IEC.
A credible source from the IEC earlier said that the presidential elections would be delayed from the previously announced date of April 20, 2019.
The source had said that the government and international community were divided over the date of elections.
Two days back, Zabihullah Sadat, the IEC spokesman, had said that the presidential elections would probably be delayed by one and half or two months.
On the other hand, Rezayee said that the Wolesi Jirga elections’ results of capital Kabul would probably be announced in the ongoing week.
