Ministry of Public Health celebrates World Hepatitis Day
Officials from the Ministry of Public Health say at the World Hepatitis Day celebration; Although the incidence of jaundice in Afghanistan is lower than in other countries, more than 100,000 people have been infected in the past decade.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The Ministry of Public Health said in a statement that it celebrated the World Hepatitis Day under the title "Now is the Time for Action" with the presence of its officials.
 
According to the ministry, the deputy minister of health services of the Ministry of Public Health said that the rate of jaundice in Afghanistan is lower than in other countries, adding that according to estimates, more than 100,000 people have been infected with hepatitis in the last decade. 
 
He said that last year, about 15,000 cases of the disease were reported in Afghanistan, including 12,000 cases of hepatitis B and 1300 cases of hepatitis C.
 
Mr. Haqqani also said that in order to prevent the disease, the Ministry of Health is serving the people in the framework of the National Jaundice and HIV Program in the prevention, treatment and control of jaundice.
 
It is worth mentioning that there are currently diagnostic and identification centers in 14 provinces of the country, which provide treatment services in 8 provinces and it is said that in the near future, treatment services will be provided in 10 other provinces.
