Electronic scanners to be installed in 12 customs
The Ministry of Finance says a contract has been signed with a private company to install electronic scanners at 12 customs offices.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The contract for the installation of security inspection devices in 12 customs ports of the country worth 113 million 300 thousand dollars was signed on Saturday, July 27, with the presence of high-ranking officials of the caretaker government between the Ministry of Finance and a private company.
 
Ahmad Zia Khalid, head of facilitation and investment at the General Directorate of Affairs, said at the signing ceremony that inspection devices would be installed at 12 customs ports in the country to enhance security.
 
According to Mr. Khalid, the project will be completed within the next two years and will provide jobs for 2,000 people.
 
He pointed to the lack of security standard inspection devices in the past, saying: In the past, while customs services were not provided in a standard manner, but also led to tax evasion, drug trafficking, weapons and other prohibited goods, which were implemented with the implementation of this project. 
 
Meanwhile, Sultan Mohammad Zubair, deputy minister of finance for policy-making, said the project would prevent the import and export of smuggled goods into the country.
 
Meanwhile, Najmuddin Siyas, chairman of the board of directors of the private company "Zubair Masur", while assuring the good implementation of the project, promised that all works will be done on time and standard.
