90% reduction in container shipping from the Red Sea
The US Naval Institute reported on Thursday night that container traffic through the Red Sea has declined significantly.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: The US Naval Institute reported on Thursday night that container traffic through the Red Sea has decreased by almost 90% since December 2023.

According to the institute, shipping through the Red Sea usually accounts for about 10-15 percent of international maritime trade.

Alternative shipping routes around Africa would add about 11,000 nautical miles, 1 to 2 weeks of transit time and roughly $1 million in fuel costs per voyage, the institute said.

During the past months, in support of the people and the Palestinian resistance in Gaza, the Yemeni army targeted Israeli ships or ships bound for the occupied Palestinian ports in the seas of Makran, India, Red, etc. The naval blockade has taken place.
