Half-finished water projects will be completed soon
Officials of the Ministry of Energy and Water, in the annual report presentation conference of the ministry, said that the durability of half-finished projects, taking necessary measures to consolidate the shores of the Amu Sea, laying the groundwork for attracting investment and signing memorandums of understanding have been important functions of the ministry during the last year.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: In a press conference held at the Government Information and Media Center today (Monday, April 4, 2023), officials of the Ministry of Water and Energy shared with the media the report on the activities of the financial year 1401 AH.
 
Mujib-ur-Rahman Omar Akhundzada, Deputy Minister of Energy and Water, said in a press conference: During the year 1401 AH, the practical work of the first phase of the second phase of the Kajaki Dam in Helmand was completed, the third phase of the Kamal Khan Dam in Nimroz, and the Shah and Aros Dam in Kabul were completed.
 
According to the deputy of this ministry, the restart of Pashdan Dam in Herat and the first part of Bakhsh Abad Dam in Farah are on the agenda, and 10 small projects of maintenance and maintenance of public dams and canals have also been implemented.
 
According to the officials of this ministry, a comprehensive survey has been conducted regarding the consolidation of the Amu Sea coasts and consolidation work is currently underway in 14 areas of Balkh, Kunduz, Jawzjan and Takhar provinces.
 
Officials add that, during the last one year, several meetings have been held regarding the implementation of the Helmand Sea Treaty with Iran, a comprehensive study has been conducted on maritime areas, a technical survey, the plan and design of dozens of projects have been evaluated, and legal documents have been verified.
 
According to the information of this ministry, in order to determine the location of water wells, 604 hydrogeological surveys have been conducted, absorption wells have been dug to strengthen underground water sources, statistics of surface water sources have been collected and regarding the risks caused by floods in Five marine areas, maps are arranged and reproduced.
 
The extension of the electricity contract with Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, the conclusion of 3 memorandums of understanding with private companies and laying the groundwork for attracting domestic and foreign investments are another part of the ministry's activities during the year 1401 AH.
 
Meanwhile, in 1401, the biggest social challenge of the country's citizens, especially in Kabul, was the lack of drinking water.
