The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has considered the registration of three positive cases of polio in Nangarhar province as a cause for concern and has announced the start of polio vaccination in eastern Afghanistan to prevent the spread of this disease to other parts of the country.
The global polio eradication effort and its success will depend on the progress in the two remaining countries, Pakistan and Afghanistan. The World Health Organization said.
A sub-national polio vaccination campaign will be conducted in selected high-risk districts in Afghanistan starting from tomorrow and will last until 13 April 2018.
