General Frank McKenzie, the former leader of the US Central Command, has expressed his concern about his country's lack of access to information about the situation in Afghanistan and has stated that compared to the years of its presence in Afghanistan, the US has access to only 3% of the information it needs.

In the recent peace deal with the Taliban the US has committed to withdrawing from Afghanistan but in stages with continued withdrawal depending upon the Taliban meeting their responsibilities under the agreement.
