Russian Foreign Minister: Ukraine is not serious about peace talks

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday that Russia is concerned about the plans of the United States and South Korea to implement joint nuclear programs.

 

"Another worrying aspect is that the United States has recently signed an agreement with South Korea on joint nuclear planning and we cannot even explain what this agreement means, but do not doubt that it will cause more concern," he said.

 

He noted that member states of the Assembly of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have expressed interest in Russia's proposal to create a new security architecture in Eurasia, they understand that the West is promoting more limited formats in the region in order to deter China. And Russia 

 

"The West continues to seek more limited formats with an obvious goal of containing China and Russia, and does not hide it," Lavrov said. "Our partners in the ASEAN understand this well and have shown interest in Russian President Vladimir Putin's initiative for an indivisible and equal security system in Eurasia."

 

"The US plan to deploy medium- and long-range missiles in Germany is not dependent on Russia's invasion of Ukraine," he said. Russia hopes that the U.S. will understand the risk of a possible US deployment of long-range missiles in the Asia-Pacific region. Moscow also asks the International Atomic Energy Agency to use its powers in Asia-Pacific regarding the presence of ACOs.
