More than 500,000 kilograms of vegetable oil are produced annually in domestic factories
Officials in the Ministry of Industry and Trade say that there are currently nearly 200 vegetable oil factories operating in the country, and these factories produce more than 500,000 kilograms of oil annually.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Abdul Salam Javad Akhundzadeh, the spokesman of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, told AVA reporter on Sunday (February 11) that the vegetable oil production industry in the country is growing.

Mr. Javad added that currently there are nearly 200 vegetable oil factories operating in three categories (small, medium and large) in the country.

He pointed out that out of these 50 factories are officially operating and 150 other factories are operating individually.

Meanwhile, economic experts say that the Islamic Emirate has led Afghanistan to self-sufficiency in most industrial sectors.

Lal Zazai, a political expert, told AVA reporter that in the last two years, the industrial sector of the country has been saved from collapse and is in a good position.

He added that the government's support to the industry has encouraged investors in the country and put the industry sector back on its feet.

But Zazai emphasized that for more support, the tax on raw materials should be reduced and the government should provide other facilities for investors.

At the same time, officials of vegetable oil production factories in the country welcomed the plan of the Economic Commission of the Islamic Emirate in connection with the support of vegetable oil production and demanded more support as well as solving the problems of the private sector and the oil production industry in the country.

Abdul Karim Malik Yar, the owner of the vegetable oil production factory, said in this regard: "We ask the Islamic Emirate to try to supply electricity to the industrialists so that we can compete in foreign markets."

He added that on the other hand, they import raw materials from outside and there are a series of challenges in the transit sector that need to be addressed by the government.

This is while the economic commission recently approved a new plan for self-sufficiency in the field of vegetable oil production and investment in this sector.
