Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Monitoring: Kana’ani said on Saturday the US raids on Syria and Iraq were “an adventurous act” and “another strategic mistake” which will have no result other than “the escalation of tension, instability and insecurity in the region.
He described the aggression as a violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the two countries, international law and the United Nations Charter.
The spokesperson touched on “the full support of the United States” for four months of the Israeli relentless bombardment of Gaza and the regime’s attacks against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, as well as assault the against Yemen and violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.
The US strikes on Iraq, Syria, and Yemen “merely serve the goals of the Israeli regime, the diplomat continued, adding the move will “embroil the US government in the region more than before and overshadow the crimes of the Zionist regime in Gaza”.
The US Army launched a wave of air strikes against several locations in Iraq and Syria on Friday in retaliation for a drone attack in Jordan that killed three American soldiers on Sunday. US President Joe Biden later stated the strikes “will continue at times and places of our choosing”.
Kana’ani renewed Iran’s warning about the danger of the expansion of the scope and geography of conflict in the region, calling the "continuation of such adventures a threat to regional and international peace".
He stressed that Tehran reiterates the responsibility of the international community and the United Nations Security Council in preventing illegal and unilateral US attacks in the region and the expansion of the scope of the crisis.
“Iran has repeatedly stated that the root of the tension and crisis in the region is the occupation of the Israeli regime and the continuation of its military operations in Gaza and the genocide of the Palestinians with the unlimited support of the United States,” the diplomat said.
“The return of stability and security in the region is not plausible except through focusing on the root of the crisis,” Kan’ani added./Fars News
