Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Herat: Special rescue and relief teams of the Iranian Red Crescent, as the first foreign team to help the victims of the earthquake in Afghanistan, entered the earthquake-affected areas in Herat province on Monday with specialized equipment and search dogs.
Sajjadi, head of the Iran Red Crescent Society's expedition group to the earthquake-affected areas of western Afghanistan, says that the Iranian relief group has come to the earthquake-affected areas with advanced and complete equipment to speed up the delivery of aid with the cooperation of local forces in Herat.
Maulavi Khalis, the head of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, also welcomed the presence of the specialized rescue teams of the Iranian Red Crescent Society to the earthquake-stricken areas of Herat province.
The terrible Herat earthquake has left extensive human and financial losses and more than 12 villages of this province have been completely destroyed.
Janan Sayeq, the spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate's Ministry of Disaster Management, says that the number of dead and injured in this earthquake has reached about 4,000 people.
He added that as a result of the earthquake in Herat, 20 villages and about 2,000 houses were also destroyed.
