Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Taiwan's Ministry of Defense announced in a statement: "The military is closely monitoring the situation and has ordered aircraft, naval ships and land-based missile systems to respond."
On Saturday, China announced that its forces were on "full alert" after two ships belonging to the United States and Canada passed through the Taiwan Strait.
The US Navy said the ships included the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Ralph Johnson and HMCS Ottawa, and that the passage "demonstrates the commitment of the United States and our allies and partners to a free and open Indo-Pacific."
China considers Taiwan to be an inseparable part of its territory, which is mainland China; But the autonomous government of Taiwan rejects this Chinese claim.
