AVA- Police spokesman Shahpur Ahmadzai told media the Special Forces conducted a raid in Arghak village of the district on Saturday.
The security forces seized a huge cache of weapons and 7,750 kilograms of explosives (ammonium nitrate) belonging to Taliban insurgents, he said.
“Two books on bomb-making techniques, one Kalashnikov, two hand grenades and several other weapons were seized from a suspect named Allah Mohammad,” he added.
Deputy Chairman of Provincial Council Abdul Wali Wakeel endorsed Ahmadzai’s version. “Azra has strategic importance for Taliban, who pose threats to the security of Paktia, Nangarhar and Kabul provinces from there.”
The road linking Azra, the most insecure district of the province, with Pul-i-Alam and Kabul has been closed for the past decade and a half.
