AVA- The incident took place late on Sunday night in the vicinity of the restive Bati Kot district.
The provincial government media office in a statement said the Taliban militants targeted a vehicle carrying civilians in Nabi Khel area late on Sunday night, leaving at least seven dead.
The statement further added that women and children were among those killed in the attack and at least two others have sustained injuries.
According to the provincial government, the victims belong to a single family and were on their way to participate in a funeral ceremony when they were targeted.
The officials are saying that the health condition of one the injured civilian has been reported as critical.
The anti-government armed militant groups including the Taliban insurgents have not commented regarding the incident so far.
This comes as the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan said last month that a total of 3,438 civilians were killed in 2017 as the mission attributed close to two-thirds of all casualties (65 per cent) to anti-government elements.
