AVA- According to a statement by ARG Palace, citing the NPC report, around 800 contracts were reviewed during the fiscal year 1396 and as a result the embezzlement of around 11 billion Afghanis has been prevented.
The head of the National Procurement Commission Elham Omar Hotaki said major momentum was noted in infrastructure and construction projects during the fiscal year 1396.
He said the majority of the projects belonged to the ministry of public works, energy and water, urban development, and Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (State Power Utility Firm).
Hotaki further added that all projects were properly reviewed and passed to the relevant ministries and contractors for the implementation.
In the meantime, the report states that the national procurement commission convened around 51 weekly meetings in a bid to prevent the embezzlement of the public funds.
The head of the procurement commission Hotaki said the process of the commission was transparent and has been positively assessed by the US Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) and the Independent Joint Anti-Corruption Monitoring and Evaluation Committee.
