A new cotton processing factory in Kandahar Industrial Park inaugurated in that province, Local officials of the Kandahar said.

A cotton-processing factory worth two million dollars has started functioning in the provincial capital. Officials of the Balkh Chamber of Commerce and Industry said.

 In Afghanistan's southern Kandahar province where many farmers still highly depend on poppy opium to earn a living, some farmers revive hundreds of acres of fields after long years, to harvest up cotton instead of the illicit crop.
