The Presidential Palace said Mr. Mohaqiq thanked the president for extending his condolences to his family.

Mohammad Mohaqiq deputy chief executive of the National Unity Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has confirmed the clash on his account on Facebook social media.

Residents said the insurgents launched a heavy attack but were pushed back by security forces and public uprising forces. 

Criticizing the policies of the government, Haji Mohammad Mohaqiq, the second deputy to the Executive Directorate and a senior member of the Grand National Coalition said: “if we do not accept each other, Afghanistan will return to the seventies.”
