UNAMA continues to engage constructively with Afghan government to build trust/UN supports stability in Afghanistan
Rosa Otunbayeva, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), said at a meeting on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations in Kabul that UNAMA needs to engage constructively with the Islamic Emirate.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVNA) - Kabul: The second day of the UN General Assembly on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, today (Thursday, October 24) under the title "UN Conference and Afghanistan Media, Past, Present and Future Opportunities" with the participation of The UN Secretary-General's Special Representative, representatives of foreign embassies, officials of journalists' support organizations and media officials, including Sayed Shabir Mahmoudi, head of the headquarters of AVA News Agency, were held at the Kabul Serena Hotel.
Rosa Otunbayeva, UN Secretary-General's Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), said the day was important to commemorate the UN's goals and that various UN agencies work for world peace among nations.
He said the world has been facing various challenges in recent years, adding that the United Nations has been a steadfast partner of Afghanistan since the distant past and the United Nations has worked in Afghanistan during challenging periods.
The UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Afghanistan said the UN supports peace and stability in Afghanistan.
Ms. Rosa Otunbayeva, noting that climate change has contributed to the spread of hunger in Afghanistan, stressed that UNAMA will continue to engage constructively with the Islamic Emirate to resolve problems and build trust.
He said the UN would continue to support farmers through the Doha process to provide alternative poppy cultivation and the UN would stand by the people of Afghanistan.
The head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) pointed to the activities of the country's media and said that the media is a bridge between the United Nations and the people and a strong media always plays a positive role in society.
"Let's commit to a stable Afghanistan. We can overcome the problems and create a stable Afghanistan," he said.
It is worth mentioning that as part of the conference, various UN agencies in Afghanistan held an exhibition to introduce the activities and achievements of the organization.
