Holding a meeting of the United Nations and Afghan media in Kabul
A meeting on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations, under the title "United Nations Conference and Afghan Media; "Past, Present and Future Opportunities" was held in Kabul. In this meeting, the participants had the opportunity to present their suggestions to the Islamic Emirate, the media and the United Nations.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: This meeting was held by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) today (Wednesday, Oct 23) with the presence of representatives of organizations that support journalists and media officials of the country, including Seyed Shabir Mahmoudi, head of the head office of Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) was held and its main purpose was to evaluate the current situation of the media in Afghanistan.
In this meeting, the participants had the opportunity to present their suggestions to the Islamic Emirate, the media and the United Nations.
Patricia McPhillips, Director General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Afghanistan, said in this program, "Given the UN agencies operating in Afghanistan and the population we serve, journalists are our essential partners. ; Because they play a vital role in informing the people and also make their calls to the international community to continue supporting the defense of peace and prosperity in Afghanistan."
Hafizullah Barakzai, the head of the Afghan Council of Journalists, said in this program that journalists and media are still facing the problem of accessing information and economic challenges.
Hafizullah Barakzai added: "International donors pay little attention to the state of the media and they are not helped economically. Now the problems of accessing information and the economic challenges of journalists are very noticeable. There is a need to hold talks to solve these issues. Also, the achievements of Afghanistan should not be ignored. I hope that the law on media and access to information will be approved and the economic problems of journalists who suffer from extreme poverty will be resolved."
Shafiq Wardak, a professor at Kabul University, also emphasized in this program that in order to solve the problems of journalists and the media, dialogues should be held between them.
He said: "Journalists must become organized. We have four suggestions for journalists; Commitment to one's profession, implementing journalistic principles, communicating with the political system, and becoming more specialized in discussions. Also, the media should exchange opinions among themselves so that their problems are identified."
It should be mentioned that earlier, the officials of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) emphasized on supporting journalists and media in this country.
