Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): As Ukraine's attacks with long-range American missiles met with Moscow's reaction, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that there is a possibility of a nuclear confrontation between Russia and the US.
The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister made this statement in response to a recent article by the American website "Science Times" in which he spoke about the possibility of a nuclear confrontation between Moscow and Washington.
In an interview with the TASS news agency, he said: "We have said everything that needed to be said about the scenarios for the use of nuclear weapons. The president has made statements on this matter, and it is also reflected in the updated foundations of the Russian government's policy on nuclear deterrence."
Ryabkov said that “unfortunately” there is a risk of a nuclear confrontation between Russia and the United States, adding: “We will do our utmost to prevent this catastrophic scenario, but in this case not everything depends on us.”
Earlier, Russian Ambassador to the UK Andrei Klein warned in an interview that the UK’s policy of supplying long-range missiles to Ukraine carries the risk of a confrontation between nuclear powers.
“In the past, important studies were carried out by experts several times to assess the possible consequences (of a nuclear war), but today the situation is very difficult and tense,” the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister told TASS.
