Iran is the most important economic partner of Afghanistan/ existing obstacles should be minimized

According to IRNA, Maulavi Azizi said in a joint meeting with Mr. Abdul Maleki: "Increasing transit through Iran's borders is emphasized by Afghanistan's economic authorities." Afghanistan seeks to develop relations with neighboring countries and will use any capacity to achieve this goal.

He stated: Until a few years ago, the transportation of the Afghan transport fleet to the border of neighboring countries was about 200 vehicles per day, which has now increased to 1,500 vehicles per day.

Acting Minister of Industry and Trade continued: The Islamic Republic of Iran is the most important economic partner of Afghanistan, and in order to raise the level of relations in this sector, existing obstacles must be minimized.

In a conversation with reporters, he emphasized: Our effort is to normalize the traffic of trucks and transit between Afghanistan and Iran in the coming days.

Maulvi Azizi stated that the talks he had with Iranian officials were very positive, especially in Chabahar area, and added that we want to create development in all the ports of our country, we will make all ports mechanized and these ports must be active 24 hours a day.

On the other hand, Hojatullah Abdul Maliki said at the Iran-Afghanistan trade meeting at Dogharun border customs in Khorasan Razavi province: Increasing Iran's interaction with neighboring countries is one of the most important achievements of the 13th government. Iran is considered an ideal region for the transit of goods for neighboring countries, and this capacity has attracted the attention of domestic and foreign investors.

Pointing out that Afghanistan is seeking to increase economic relations with Iran, he said: The establishment of a joint free zone between the two countries is Afghanistan's demand, and the two sides are looking for legal solutions.

Stating that the establishment of the Dogharon Free Zone is a golden opportunity for Iran's economy, Abdul Maleki added: This free zone plays a big role in attracting Iranian and foreign investors, and every potential should be used to capture the Afghan market.

At the same time, he said that according to the understanding of the two countries, 6 million tons of goods will be transited to Afghanistan through Chabahar port every year.

Advisor to the President and Secretary of the Supreme Council of Free Commercial-Industrial and Special Economic Zones of Iran said: The transit of goods from Chabahar Free Zone to Afghanistan has increased by more than 230% compared to the same period in 1401 AH.
