Imran Khan: The only way to restore stability in Pakistan is to hold elections
In a conversation with Al Jazeera, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan said that holding elections is the only way to establish stability in his country.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): "Imran Khan", the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, on Saturday morning (May 13, 2023), in an interview with Qatar's Al Jazeera channel, said that holding elections is the only way to establish stability in his country.
 
He also said that the Supreme Court of Pakistan has released me on bail in all the cases in which I have been accused.
 
Judge "Umar Attar Bandyal" on Friday declared the action of the security forces in arresting former Prime Minister Imran Khan as illegal.
 
He said that the way in which Imran Khan was detained inside the court by the security forces can never be defended.
 
The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered the immediate release of the former Prime Minister of this country and subsequently asked Imran Khan to appear in today's session at the Islamabad court.
 
The former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, was arrested in connection with the corruption case in Islamabad on Tuesday, May 9, and on Thursday, the judge of the anti-corruption court sent him to prison for 8 days at the request of the agents of the National Accounts Court of Pakistan to interrogate Imran Khan and complete the investigation but the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday ordered the police to bring Imran Khan to court.
 
In a televised speech on Thursday night, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif warned that elements against the country should stop their actions and enmity, otherwise the country's law and system will deal strongly with the rioters.
 
He considered the arrest of Imran Khan in accordance with the law and added that the elements who committed attacks on government, public and military places have actually committed terrorist acts and the government will not fail to identify, arrest and punish them for a moment.
 
In their latest reports, the Pakistani media, citing police officials in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa states, announced that more than 1,400 protesters were arrested and at least 10 people were killed in the last 2 days, and hundreds of supporters of the former prime minister of Pakistan.
 
Some of the senior leaders of the Tehreek-e-Insaf Party, especially the former foreign minister who is second in command of Imran Khan's party, were also accused on Thursday and Friday of inciting people to violent protests, trying to disrupt public order and encouraging protesters to attack important government buildings.
 
The United Nations, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and the United States reacted to the arrest of the former prime minister of Pakistan and the subsequent events, and called for a peaceful resolution of issues and avoidance of violence.
