Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Pakistani security officials say that several explosions occurred in an ammunition warehouse in a police station in that country, killing at least 12 people and injuring more than 50 others.
These untimely explosions took place on Monday, April 24 in the "Swat" region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province when, according to the police, a fire broke out in the ammunition warehouse. Most of the victims of this event are Pakistani police forces.
Pakistani officials have said that in these explosions, the anti-terrorist police center of that country was completely destroyed. Previously, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan had taken responsibility for most of the similar explosions in parts of that country.
But Shafiullah Gandapour, one of the Swat police commanders, said that this incident was caused by "a power cut in the basement of this police station."
"There is no idea that this incident was caused by an external attack or suicide bombers," he told reporters.
Some witnesses have said that two-three explosions took place in this center, which according to them, these explosions were so strong that they completely destroyed the building of this military center.
The videos published in the media show the moments after the event and it can be seen that many police forces are busy pulling out the victims from under the rubble.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif initially said that the blast was caused by a suicide bomber. He wrote on his Twitter: "Our police are on the front line of defense against terrorism." But minutes later, he again said in a message that the nature of the explosion is being investigated.
Previously, similar explosions have occurred in police stations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and other parts of Pakistan.
In January of this year, a strong explosion occurred inside a mosque in a police station in Peshawar, Pakistan, as a result of which more than 100 people were killed, most of whom were police officers. This is the deadliest attack on Pakistani police in the history of that country.
The attacks of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan in Pakistan have become almost normal. In November 2022, the group canceled the indefinite ceasefire brokered by the Islamic Emirate with the government of Pakistan and ordered its fighters to launch attacks across Pakistan.
