Water supply projects in Kunduz and Takhar; Jobs opportunity for thousands of people
Local officials in Kunduz and Takhar say that thousands of people have been provided with jobs by launching water supply channel and water supply projects in these provinces.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Mazar-e-Sharif: According to the information of the local officials of Kunduz to AVA, a water supply channel and 5000 water wells will be established in Aliabad district of this province.
 
This project has been launched by the Swedish Committee in Aliabad district of Kunduz, according to its officials, more than 2,000 pistachio and heng saplings are to be planted in 5,000 gutters.
 
Syed Ahmad Shah Hashemi, the technical officer of this project, told AVA today, Monday, September 19: We will create 5,000 jobs in Aliabad district, and 2,350 people have got jobs during this project.
 
He added that the purpose of creating these culverts is to prevent floods and raise the level of underground water.
 
The technical officer of this project said that it will take 55 days to build these drains and each worker will be paid 400 afghanis a day.
 
According to Hashemi, at the same time as the creation of watercourses, the repair work of a 27-kilometer-long canal at the cost of 9 million Afghanis has also begun in Aliabad district, during which nearly two thousand people have been engaged in the work.
 
He added that a water supply channel was built a hundred years ago in Aliabad district of this province, which supplies water to five thousand acres of agricultural land in this district. But a number of areas of this canal have been destroyed and now the work of its restoration continues.
 
Also, the local officials of Takhar also said that at the same time as the reconstruction of four irrigation canals in different areas of Taleghan, job opportunities have been provided for 6 thousand people.
 
Mohibullah Nikzad; The spokesman of Takhar governor told AVA: The work of rebuilding four water supply channels was opened yesterday (Sunday, September 18) in the presence of the officials of the maritime domain, heads of government departments, representatives of water user associations, influential people and city guilds.
 
According to him, the total cost of the reconstruction of these four water supply channels is 55 million Afghanis, which has provided job opportunities for 6,000 people.
 
Nikzad added that with the completion and operation of these four canals, 5493 hectares of land will enjoy continuous water, which will provide the basis for increasing agricultural yields and food security, and on the other hand, ten thousand cubic meters of water from springs and rains will be stored in these canals.
 
The spokesman of Takhar governor said that the budget for the reconstruction of these water channels is provided by the Takhar Maritime Authority and aid institutions.
