40% of pregnant women in Afghanistan do not have access to obstetric services

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): CARE International Institute has published a report saying that about 40% of pregnant women in Afghanistan do not have proper access to prenatal health care.
 
This institution added that it is estimated that 638 women die every year in every 100,000 births.
 
According to this health organization, about 40 percent of pregnant women do not have prenatal care and there are few health workers who have training skills in this field.
 
This institution has stated that even before the corona epidemic, women and girls in Afghanistan faced great problems in terms of access to health facilities, which has multiplied with the corona epidemic.
 
Also, in the report of this institution, it is stated that barriers related to gender and social norms, insufficient health personnel, lack of essential drugs and low health awareness are among the barriers to mothers' access to prenatal health care in the country.
 
The Wall Street Journal also reported at the same time that despite major investments in the health field in the past twenty years, Afghanistan still has the highest maternal and child mortality rates in the world.
 
This publication has added that some health centers in the villages have been closed due to lack of financial resources and women in the villages are forced to come to the cities to receive services and health care.
 
According to this newspaper, even the big gynecological hospitals will stop working without the help of international organizations.
 
This newspaper added that after the change of the system, a large number of female doctors and midwives have fled from Afghanistan, which has also caused problems for pregnant women's access to health facilities.
