Afghanistan lose semi-final to Bangladesh in Emerging Teams Asia Cup
Afghanistan suffered seven-wicket loss against hosts Bangladesh in their semi-final match of Emerging Teams Asia Cup on Thursday.
Afghanistan, who were sent to bat first after losing the toss, posted 228-9 after playing all the mandated 50 overs in Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. 114 of Afghanistan total came from Darwish Rasooli.
Bangladesh chased down the 229-run target in 39.5 overs, with Soumya Sarkar and Nazmul Shanto hitting half-centuries.
Afghanistan's innings was damaged mostly by Hasan Mahmud who dismissed all three top order Afghan batsmen including both the openers on single digit. Soumaya Sarkar claimed another three wickets.
Earlier,Pakistan defeated India by three runs in the first semi-final of the tournament.
Bangladesh and Pakistan will play the final on coming Saturday.
