India announces stance regarding the UN call for direct talks between Afghan govt and Taliban

India’s Permanent Representative to United Nations, Syed Akbaruddin said the Afghan people who will implement and bear the consequences of any agreements arrived at.
Speaking during the quarterly debate on UN mission in Afghanistan at UN Secrutity Council, Mr. Akbaruddin further added “Hence outcomes having constitutional legitimacy and political mandate and which are arrived at in an inclusive and democratic way can ensure stability.”
He also added that the process of peace and reconciliation cannot go forward in an atmosphere of terror.
Meanwhile, Mr. Akbaruddin said the international community needs to continue its commitments made to the Afghan security forces in their fight against the scourge of terrorism.
The remarks by the Indian envoy came days after the U.S. President Donald Trump called peace talks with Taliban group in Doha.
President Trump called off the talks in the aftermath of a series of deadly attacks in Kabul, including the last car bombing which killed more than 10 people including a U.S. service member.
