The raid was conducted a day after a coordinated attack hit the police headquarters of Baghlan in the city.
“In a raid by Afghan Special Forces to disrupt the Taliban’s ability to mass combat power in Pul-e Khumri, 13 Taliban fighters were killed and a large weapons cache was destroyed,” informed military sources said Tuesday.
This comes as a group of militants launched a coordinated attack on Baghlan police headquarters on Sunday afternoon leaving at least 13 policemen dead and 55 others wounded including 20 civilians.
The Taliban militants group had claimed responsibility for the attack.
