Afghanistan beat Malaysia 3-2 in AFC Beach Soccer Championship
Afghanistan defeated Malaysia 3-2 in their first match of AFC Beach Soccer Championship in Thailand on Thursday.
AVA- Afghanistan scored their third goal in the opening seconds of extra-time with a kick from captain Samiullah Mohammadi.
"Any first game of a tournament is difficult, and we didn't have a good situation for our preparation, but we tried and we had a target to come here and win the game, and we were able to take the points. Congratulations to all the people of Afghanistan for this win,” said Meysam Ashtyani, Afghanistan head coach.
Mohammed Faizal So’od, head of coach of Malaysian side, said: "Both teams made mistakes, but when Malaysia made mistakes and they happened to be goals for Afghanistan. We couldn't score from our chances, now we have to hope we can improve when we play against Thailand."”
Afghanistan are in Group A along with hosts Thailand, Malaysia and Palestine. Afghanistan will face Palestine in their next match of the tournament on Saturday.
