One million educated Afghans are unemployed
 Some one million educated people mostly the youth are unemployed and seek jobs, the government says.
AVA- “More than 2.5 million people are jobless from whom 45 per cent are high school graduates or hold university diplomas. The rest are skillful who have access to some vocations,” Sohrab Bahman, spokesman of ministry of economy said Friday.
The unemployment in Afghanistan is a matter of concern not only for the government, but the foreign relief organizations are also looking at this as a big problem. Thousands of families have displaced from remote areas to big cities in search of job. The displacement has increased the population of big cities and increasing in crime graph, according to ministry of interior.
The National Labor Association, a syndicate active in laborers’ rights, says unemployment remains as a problem for several years. “Educated people are the national capital, they were educated from the taxes paid by widows and orphans. They are jobless along with uneducated. We are concerned of this and have raised our voices for resolve,” said Maroof Qaderi, head of the association.
But ministry of labor and social affairs says unemployment reduction plans were on hand. “We have a very strong plan. We promised the people during the labor national conference to enhance the level of employment. We will fulfill our commitment,” said Abdul Fattah Ashrat Ahmadzai, spokesman of the ministry.
Unemployment is one of the reasons that the youth leave the country in search of job in abroad.
