Afghanistan U-17 national football team wins Central Asian championship
Afghanistan U-17 national football team won the CAF Central Asian Cup for the first time. The team completed their history-making and surprise by defeating the powerful Uzbek team 1-0 on Saturday.
The match, which was played at 7:30 pm on Saturday at the Central Stadium in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, ended in favor of Afghanistan with a single goal by Azmuddin Hajizadeh in the 28th minute.
 
Afghanistan reached the final in the first group of the tournament, beating Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Afghanistan finished the tournament with three consecutive wins, four goals and no concedes.
 
Uzbekistan also defeated Iran and Turkmenistan in the second group.
 
Tajikistan beat Iran 4-2 on penalties on Friday to finish third, while Iran finished fourth and Turkmenistan finished fifth and Kyrgyzstan sixth.
 
The Afghanistan U-17 national team finished third in the tournament last year.
