Afghan air force conducts maiden night-time strikes
 The Afghan Air Force (AAF) conducted its first nighttime airstrikes in central Uruzgan province, inflicting heavy casualties on the enemy, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said on Monday.
AVA- MoD spokesman Javid Ghafoor told media the AAF aircraft carried out ‘successful raids’ in Uruzgan on Sunday night.
He said militants suffered heavy casualties in the airstrikes and their weapons and ammunition were destroyed.
The MoD spokesman said it was for the first time the AAF conducted nighttime operation.
Separately, a foreign forces’ airstrike killed eight rebels and wounded two others in Tirinkot, Uruzgan’s capital, said Khwaja Yehya Alvi, commander of the 205th Atal Military Corps, in southern Kandahar province.
He said another four insurgents were killed in Charchino district when they planting roadside bombs.
Military officials in southern Zabul province claimed eight militants were killed and 11 others injured during an operation in Aaghandab district.
The Taliban have not yet commented about these incidents.
