President Ghani supports utilization of biometrics system in upcoming elections
President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has said the utilization of biometrics system in upcoming parliamentary elections is an important step to ensure the transparency of the elections.

He made the remarks during the last meeting of the security and defense sector for the security and safety of elections on Saturday evening.
The Office of the President, ARG Palace, quoting President Ghani in a statement said the difference between the government and the Taliban group is the approach through democratic elections and use of weapons.
President Ghani further added that the government relies on the vote of the people while the Taliban relies on use of weapons.
He said no governmental and security officials including the national defense and security forces have the right to interfere in election affairs, warning that any meddling would be dealt with through legal procedures.
According to President Ghani, the parliamentary elections would be organized in the lights of the laws of the country and no election office should be closed, emphasizing that there is no justification to close the election offices.
ARG Palace in its statement said the meeting was also attended by the security and defense sector officials, election commission officials, army, intelligence, and provincial security commanders.
