President Ghani’s spokesman Meenapal resigns ahead of parliamentary elections
Presidential spokesman Dawa Khan Meenapal resigned announced his resignation today as he plans to run for the upcoming parliamentar elections.
Meenapal posted a statement on his official Facebook page, stating that he will run for the parliamentary elections on behalf of the Nomads.
He thanked the Afghan people, media outlets, and reporters for the support while he was serving as presidential spokesman.
Meenapal vowed to continue serving the Afghan nation, emphasizing that he has considered national interests of the country while taking all the decisions in the past.
The parliamentary and district councils elections are due to be organized on 20th October this year.
The registration of the candidates for the upcoming parliamentary and district councils elections formally kicked off on Saturday across the country.
The Afghanistan Independent Election Commission Chief Gula Jan Abdul Badi Sayad told reporters that the nomination process has kicked off in the capital and all other provinces.
Sayad further added that the nominees can obtain the registration forms from IEC offices in Kabul and in provinces.
