Arab League condemns U.S. decision of closing PLO office in Washington
Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul-Gheit condemned on Tuesday the U.S. decision of closing the Palestine Liberation Organization's (PLO) office in Washington.
AVA- "The decision is one of a series of unfair U.S. policies and procedures toward the Palestinians that aimed at squeezing their cause," Aboul-Gheit said in a statement.
He added that "the current U.S. administration's policies starting with the transfer of its embassy to Jerusalem last May unveiled its complete prejudice to the Israeli agenda."
On Monday, the U.S. announced the decision to close PLO's office in Washington out of concern about Palestinian attempts to prompt an International Criminal Court investigation of Zionist regime.
"We reiterate that the rights of the Palestinian people are not for sale, and we will not succumb to U.S. threats and bullying," Secretary General of the PLO Saeb Erekat said later in a statement.
In August, the U.S. State Department announced a decision to "redirect" economic aid to the Palestinians that are worthy of more than 200 million U.S. dollars.
Later, it announced it would not provide assistance funding any more for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.
"These moves aimed at pressing the Palestinian administration and indicated a mistaken understanding for the Palestinian historical struggle," Aboul-Gheit said.
