Afghan forces and Taliban suffer casualties in Uruzgan clash
The Afghan armed forces and the Taliban insurgents suffered casualties during an overnight clash in southern Uruzgan province of Afghanistan.
According to the local officials, the latest clash took place in the vicinity of Chora district and as a result at least sixteen militants were killed.
The officials are saying that the clash has also left at least eight security personnel martyred, including policemen and soldiers of the Afghan National Army.
The district administrative chief of Chora Amin Khaliqi confirmed the clash and the casualties toll of the Taliban and security forces.
Khaliqi further added that several Taliban insurgents have also sustained injuries during the clash which also left a number of security personnel wounded.
According to Khaliqi, the Taliban militants launched a coordinated attack late on Wednesday night to capture the district but faced a resistance from the security personnel.
The anti-government armed militant groups including Taliban insurgents have not commented regarding the report so far.
Uruzgan is among the relatively volatile provinces in South of Afghanistan where the Taliban insurgents are actively operating in some of its districts and often carry out insurgency activities.
