According to the chamber of commerce of Balkh, for the first time, Afghanistan has exported 2,000 cartons of fresh grapes to Russia via Haritan port.

At a local expo which was organized by the local chamber of agriculture and livestock, farmers in Herat this week showcased their grapes, honey and figs.

Export of grapes from Kandahar has started, with up to 400 tons being exported to Pakistan daily. Local officials of this province said.

Farmers are expected to harvest about 150,000 tons of grapes in Herat province this year.

Last week, major Afghan exporters signed more than $67 million worth of contracts at a trade mission.
