The United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief has predicted that the death toll from the earthquake in Turkey and Syria will reach 55,000 people.

International aid was trickling into parts of Turkey and Syria on Saturday where rescuers toiled to pull children from rubble in areas devastated by a massive earthquake that has killed over 24,000 people.

The government of Pakistan sent humanitarian aid to the victims of the earthquake in Syria on the order of the Prime Minister of this country.

The latest updated statistics from the 7.8-magnitude earthquake in Turkey indicate that more than 4,300 people have died in Turkey and Syria so far.
