In an annual report the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology said that, 98% of SIM cards from telecommunication networks have been registered.
Distribution of SIM cards in the country is now almost completely regulated. The acting Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology said.
From now on, applicants should have an electronic ID card or a passport with them when they buy a SIM card, as paper IDs will no longer be accepted. Officials at Afghanistan Telecom Regulatory Authority (ATRA) said.
