Local authorities in Nigeria say armed robbers have killed at least 113 people in coordinated attacks on 20 villages in the region since Saturday. 300 people were injured in these attacks.
The international media have reported that the Nigerian army in Kaduna province located in the north of the country, "mistakenly" targeted a religious ceremony, as a result of which 85 people died.
The Nigerian army has opened fire on protesters demanding the release of top Muslim cleric Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, who has been held for four years on trumped-up allegations.
