Turkey’s parliament is expected to end more than a year of delays that severely strained its ties with Western allies and approve Sweden’s membership of NATO this week.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken says that the Turkish Parliament will soon approve Sweden's membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

US President Joe Biden has said Ukraine is not yet ready for the membership of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, and that Russia’s war in Ukraine needs to end before the NATO can consider adding Kyiv to its ranks.
