Iran has signed an agreement to build a 540-megawatt (MW) gas fired power plant in Syria’s coastal city of Latakia, asserting its role in the Arab’s country reconstruction after years of an imposed war.

The Russian Defense Ministry promised to take “adequate” measures to boost the security of Russian servicemen after the Zionist Air Force used the Russian Il-20 as a shield while attacking targets in Syria, which led to the downing of the aircraft by Syrian air defenses last week.

Russian President Vladimir Putin told Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Monday that Moscow would supply its ally with an S-300 anti-aircraft missile system, Syrian Presidency announced.

Moscow said on Sunday that the Zionist Air Force misled the Russian side by providing wrong information about the area of the planned air strikes in Syria, blaming Tel Aviv for the downing of Russian Il-20 military aircraft in Latakia on September 17.

The Syrian government forces have raised the level of alert, as part of the preparations for the anticipated military campaign on the Idlib province, the last major rebel stronghold in Syria, a monitor group reported on Wednesday.
