South Africa's foreign minister has said that BRICS leaders have agreed on its expansion and they are going to publish their official announcement on this Thursday.

The three-day meeting of the heads of the five BRICS countries with the presence of dozens of other heads of state started in Johannesburg, South Africa on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. This is the 15th meeting of the BRICS heads.

leaders meeting in South Africa this week will consider expanding the five-nation bloc at a time of great interest in the group that accounts for a quarter of global wealth. 

Leaders of the BRICS emerging economies, which account for about a quarter of the world’s wealth, meet in Johannesburg this week looking to widen the bloc’s influence and push for a shift in global geopolitics.
