As many as 39 Taliban militants were killed and 10 others wounded following operations in Afghanistan's northern turbulent Faryab and Kunduz provinces, an army source said Monday.
Assadullah Khalid, who has recently taken the charge as acting minister of defense, said that the Afghan military forces would no longer be in defensive mode but more of offensive against the militants.
The Afghan Military in the East claimed that several anti-government militants have been killed during the operations in north-eastern Kapisa province.
At least 21 militants were killed in an airstrike in Jurm district of Northeastern Badakhshan province of Afghanistan, the Afghan Military in the North said.
