"Two International Security Assistance Force service members died following an improvised explosive device attack in eastern Afghanistan today," the statement confirmed, Xinhua reported.
However, it did not identify the nationalities of the victims and the exact place of the incident, saying it is the ISAF policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities.
Troops mostly from the United States have been stationed in the eastern region to fight Taliban-linked insurgency there.
More than 130 NATO soldiers with majority of them Americans have been killed in Afghanistan since the beginning of this year.
