United Nations observers in Syria visit three cities
A group of United Nations observers has visited three cities in Syria in line with its task of monitoring a ceasefire that went into effect on April 12.
The observers visited the western city of Rastan in the central province of Homs, the provincial capital city of Homs and the city of Hama, the provincial capital of the western province of Hama, on Sunday, Press TV reported.

It was not the group’s first visit to the city of Homs. The UN monitors also visited several areas in the city, including the Baba Amr neighborhood, on Saturday.

Homs has been a major flashpoint during the unrest that Syria has been experiencing since mid-March 2011.

According to Annan’s spokesperson Ahmad Fawzi, there are “seven observers on the ground” in Syria and “two more are arriving on Monday to bring those on the ground to nine.”
