Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) - Kabul: Officials of the General Directorate of State-owned Companies and the Ministries of Aviation, Transport and Finance, in a press conference held at the Government Information and Media Center today (Wednesday, Oct 9), signed the contract for the installation of GP locks.
Maulavi Ahmad Jan Bilal, head of the Emirate's General Directorate of Companies, said that under the contract, smart locks (GPS lockers) will be used to provide more facilities, attract investment and ensure the safe and secure passage of trucks.
He added that the state-owned Afghan Post Company in coordination with the Ministries of Aviation, Transport and Finance has provided the ground for the realization of this important project and its practical work will begin soon.
Officials say the smart locks, equipped with a global positioning system (GPS), will be installed in trucks, adding that this will play an important role in raising the level of safety of commercial goods, reducing costs and developing transit.
Maulavi Abdul Matin, deputy head of the customs department, added that the installation of the system would help traders to be informed of the exact location of commercial goods and the route of trucks, and would also prevent theft of commercial goods.
In this meeting, the postal code expansion program was also inaugurated by the officials of these companies and also provided explanations about it and said; Previously, Afghanistan used a four-digit postal code that was not compatible with modern technology.
Meanwhile, Rahmatullah Makki, the head of Afghan Post, said the company had created a new six-digit code, which was approved by the International Postal Union.
He added that the state-owned Afghan Post Company is determined to establish 1,405 postal codes in the country and is trying to provide these services throughout the country.
