The Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier arrives in West Asia
The US Central Command (Centcom) announced that the second US aircraft carrier, the USS Abraham Lincoln, has arrived in West Asia with an escort of destroyers equipped with guided missiles.
The ship, equipped with F-35 fighter jets, is said to be equipped with US ships currently stationed in the region, including the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, which arrived in mid-July.

Lloyd Austin, the American secretary of defense, in April ordered Lincoln to move across the Indian Ocean and the Pacific to western Asia. In addition to Lincoln, Austin ordered the USS Georgia, a guided-missile-equipped submarine, to the region.

The location of a US submarine is rarely revealed, according to ISNA. The last time the Pentagon mentioned the presence of a submarine at US Central Command was in November 2023, in the weeks after the Al-Aqsa storm and the start of the war in Gaza.

The USS Georgia, which is due to arrive in West Asia soon, and the USS Lincoln will be added to the eight destroyers in the region, according to Navy officials.

The US has been strengthening its troops in the Gaza region since the beginning of the war.
